The signature of Fernando Torres seemed to overshadow the arrival of Jeremy Menez from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, but the Frenchman has had the better start to the season.
Torres is struggling to get going in Serie A with just one goal to his name against Empoli and it has been suggested that Menez may win the battle for a starting spot over the next few months.
Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi has been favouring an attacking trident with Keisuke Honda, Stephan El Sharaawy, Giampaolo Pazzini Menez and Torres fighting it out for three spots.
It has been stated in the Italian press that Torres and Menez are incompatible and so must compete for one spot, but the Frenchman has denied that talk.
"Can we play together? Yes, we can," Menez told reporters at an EXPO 2015 event.

"In Paris I played alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It's all up to the coach and the balance of the team.
"I am playing more centrally, but I can also go on the wing if the boss wants me there. We have a lot of attacking options and we respect Inzaghi's choices."
