The new Android mobile OS will be bring several new features and
updates to further improve your mobile experience, some improvements
will be brought to the user interface, notification system, along with a
variety of internal changes. The Android L was originally introduced in
June 25, 2014 at a keynote convention at Google’s developer’s
conference and is expected to be released winter 2014. The Android L is
also often referred to as Android 5.0.
Some of the many features in the new Android L OS will include a new
user interface based on a new responsive design language known as
material design where you can choose from several new animations, one of
the internal changes include a new runtime called Android RunTime that
will be replacing Dalvik, a new camera API will also be included so that
you can use more advanced camera functions, and an improved system for
power management. There are many other changes such as a Bluetooth low
energy support, a graphics update, new android keyboard design, and new
widgets and animations.
There have been a lot of rumours regarding why Google decided to call
it Android ‘L’, users have followed the previous idea that Google likes
to name Android updates after certain food, and came to the conclusion
the ‘L’ stands for Lemon Meringue Pie. This rumour started when the new
Android OS was sometimes referred to as ‘LMP’, in the past updates the
Android 4.4 update was referred to as ‘KLP’ and was based off Key Lime
Pie.
However, the name of the update rarely matters as most users are too
busy focusing on the new features and possible improvements. With winter
2014 coming up, you can expect an announcement on the official release
date in the next few months.
