Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien believes that AC Milan will have a great season under Filippo Inzaghi.
In his recent interview he commented on the win over Hellas Verona, a few of his teammates, the coach, next game against Fiorentina and racism.
“Verona was not an easy game, but we tried hard and came out as winners. Personally, it was a nice thing for me as I regained the title on the field in Verona. I am very happy with the result and to have helped the team win” he told the Milan Channel.
He also expressed his views on Fernando Torres and Keisuke Honda and how their contribution to the club will help it achieve its objectives.
“Fernando Torres is a great player and I see him train at his most everyday. He will help us a lot this season and will soon begin to score some goals.
“Honda is in incredible shape. He plays well and scores a lot of goals too. We hope it will keep for a long time and still score a lot of goals.”
He also commented on Filippo Inzaghi and the difference he’s made at Milan.
“He’s our coach and he has been doing a great job right from the start. He gives us a lot of freedom on the field, encourages us to strive in all situations and makes us play good football.
“I have had a lot of coaches in my career, and Inzaghi reminds me a lot of Carlo Ancelotti. I like Inzaghi as a coach and a person – he allows us to play our game on the pitch and give our best for the team
On the team he said: “We all work hard, but we must move ahead on this path, continue to work as hard as we are doing in these workouts. Our aim, our true objective, is to finish in the top three in Serie A.
“That is where Milan belong and we need to fight all the way to get there. Every dressing room every season has different characteristics, and this year they are very good indeed.”
He also commented on the forthcoming game against Fiorentina.
“Fiorentina will be a tough game but we play at home in front of our fans. These three points would be very important and if we play to our best, we can win.”
